Medical Illustrator

Shân Fischer

Shân is a Medical Illustrator and visual development artist for Digital Medic. She focuses on creating accurate and engaging visuals that translate complex medical concepts into accessible and visually engaging imagery, bridging the gap between medicine and art.

Shân graduated from university with an honours degree in Visual Art, majoring in Painting and Printmaking. While studying, she had many science-based part-time jobs, her favourites being working in a tissue culture laboratory, the university entomology department, and a natural history museum. A 25-year career in art would take her from teaching Art and English, both in South Africa and Japan, to working in the publishing, gaming, TV, and film industries as an illustrator, concept artist, lead background designer, and visual development artist. She is a published children's book illustrator and has worked for the likes of Disney, National Geographic Kids, and Penguin Random House Publishers.

Shân’s creative journey has been shaped by a love for storytelling and a fascination with the intricate beauty of the natural world. Driven by a passion for art and science, she strives to create illustrations that inform, inspire, and captivate audiences of all ages.
